Farming On-line - was the brainchild of Merric Mercer. In the early 1990s, while working for a Merchant Bank in London, Merric became familiar with the financial information systems used in the City. Merric saw that the City's headline driven approach allowed busy people to see at a glance relevant information. He recognised this format would also be successful in the Agricultural Industry, where busy people need up-to-date information to help run their businesses. Farming On-line was launched as a family concern in 1995.
